So this site, was made at 2 AM on a random Monday night/Tuesday morning. That ought to show how well-thought this is...haha ;p. This site, hmm, is going to be a place where I can jot down my thoughts, my appreciation for the things I love, whatever, just something I would like to do in my free time, among others. So to start things off, let's go for a little Q&A, which will hopefully reveal more about what this site is going to be about.
Q. Who are you? A. To start off, my name is Adrian Halim and I'm an Indo-Chinese (that's one unique fact there), grew up in Singapore since I was three. Went to SJIJ (previously St Michael's), SJI, SAJC, and currently I'm in SMU studying Business Management. I'm a person of many varied interests and i'm incredibly curious, I'll always read up/research on things that I'm interested in and try to learn it, and would more or less make myself be competent at it. So sports, music, etc. Because of this, I find myself sort of being a jack of all trades, but a master of none, though i'm trying to see what I would like to pursue. You could say, that I'm still trying to find myself and where I fit in this large world. Oh did I mention I'm an owl? Yes that's why I'm typing this at 2.55 AM. Hmm, yeah it's a bad habit, but hey, it's the best time when I can think and be in my own world. Anyway, hopefully the above is sufficient for now.
Q. Why did you create this site? A.Well... It started with a thought in my head that since I really love to pick out lyrics and its hidden meanings, that I should maybe have a platform to jot it down and share it just for the sake of it, I think it'll be quite a fun thing to do, so yes therefore, the 'lyric'-themed title. Then I realize I could expand the scope further to include anything that I feel worthy to post. Yes, since I'm the master of this site. I have that power :).
Q. Why is this site called Lyricalled? A. Why Lyricalled in particular? Lyrical means and I quote from the online Merriam-Webster (which is by the way, one of the more reliable dictionaries out there, at least according to my Lit teacher) : having an artistically beautiful or expressive quality. I love how it does not just exclusively pertain to music, but it encompasses all art forms, or even the simplest things in life. You can find beauty in all things, you just gotta appreciate. In my case and in this site, I hope to do an analysis and a post of appreciation for selected songs periodically, it's one of the interesting things I'll post about (hopefully). And this brings me to my next point.
Q. What will you post on this site? A. Excellent question right there, though I'm the one who asked myself, what indeed will I post here? Besides song appreciations like I have mentioned above, I will also post covers if I do make one. I'm very interested in making cover videos like those in YouTube and I do know of a few people whom I can work with, so hopefully that'll be a fun venture soon enough. Now and then, I'll probably post about events in my life that I feel is worth enveloping in a post here, we'll see.
Q. What do you hope to achieve in this site? A. Honestly, nothing. I don't expect people to come streaming in at all. I mean that will be a hopeful bonus, but for now, it's my world where I can just share what I enjoy, and if people do like 'em, great. Talk about an ambitious goal eh? Hey, key word is "for now". My Music
Grew up listening to both English and Mandarin songs, and grew to love the beautifully written and well-thought lyrics that accompany and complete the songs. Some of my favourite singers and inspirations include Jay Chou, Ed Sheeran, Parachute, JJ Lin, amongst many other incredible artistes.
I love to sing and play the piano and guitar, it's a moment when you just...enjoy. I have also tried my hand into writing and composing my own songs, as I find calm and peace in expressing certain feelings into a lyrical melody to the ears. Currently an SMU student studying Business Management, I hope to eventually carve my own path doing the things I love.
This site, was created out of an innate desire to jot down my appreciation for songs that are beautifully made. We'll see how this goes :).
